About Us

Matt Lankes passed away on June 15, 2025. He was a photographer based in Austin, TX. With strong Texas roots, he enjoyed chronicling people important to Texas and Austin culture including musicians, actors, artists and chefs.

Matt went to Austin High School and continued his education at St. Edwards University, where he also played soccer. After finishing school, he immediately began working as a photographer, following in the footsteps of his father, who worked for the Austin American Statesman. He has shot for Time, Texas Monthly and Cowboys and Indians magazines, to name a few. His photo of Sam Shepard is in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery. He has also worked as a still photographer on movies such as Boyhood and A Scanner Darkly.

Matt's wife, Jamie, is running the website.
